Still being new to this, it never dawned on me that HAMS would be involved 
in the Colorado fire fighting effort. (Talk about a 'Field Day'.)  Let's 
hear a round of applause for our 'brother and sister' HAMS on the front 
lines out there.  After all, that is what HAM radio is all about.  
Contesting is just a pleasurable perk.

Fellow Hams:

In between all of the preparation, operating, and fun of Field Day, take a
moment to remember our colleagues who are doing "The Real Deal" out in
Colorado.  The ARRL news yesterday stated that there were hams still
on-station as the wild fires continue to spread.  A ham with a radio in a
situation like that is probably as valuable as a firefighter on the line.
Let's hope and pray that we don't get word of any fatalities among the
Amateur Radio folks.
