I beg to differ, it has always been ARRL's position
that one should NEVER use non-standard phonetics
because the person on the other end is listening for
standard phonetics and throwing something else in
causes even more delays as s/he now has to realize
that you've gone and changed the phonetics. This is
especially important in those wee hours when no-one's
brains are firing on all cylinders.

imho

============================

Sometimes, when a station is really straining to hear
you, you might
use
several different phonetics hoping that enough
syllables will be
recognised to allow them to get the call correct..
Kilo Three Papa Zulu November
Kilo Three Papa Zulu November
Kilo Three Papa Zulu November

King Three Peter Zanzibar Nancy
King Three Peter Zanzibar Nancy
King Three Peter Zanzibar Nancy

Koala Three Pouch Zipper Nation
Koala Three Pouch Zipper Nation
Koala Three Pouch Zipper Nation

During the wee hours of the morning, one's creativity
may be a little
warped.....

I prefer the standard phonetics repeated several
times, but one must
have
some fun, too
