Fellow ARES/RACES/NTS members,
Please pass the following information along to your respective Field Day
Chairpersons:

   Field Day Message Origination

The 2002 ARRL Field Day Rule 7.3.5 (page 109, May 2002 QST) concerns
Message Origination. It states: 100 bonus points for origination of a
National Traffic System (NTS) style formal message to the ARRL Section
Manager or Section Emergency Coordinator by your group from its site.
You should include the club name, number of participants, Field Day
location, and number of ARES operators involved with your station. The
message must be transmitted during the Field Day period and a fully
serviced copy of it must be included in your submission, in standard
ARRL NTS format, or no credit will be given.

The 2002 ARRL Field Day Rule 7.3.6 concerns Message Handling. It
states: 10 points for each formal NTS style originated, relayed or
received and delivered during the Field Day period, up to a maximum of
100 points (ten messages). Properly serviced copies of each message
must be included with the Field Day report.

If your group is planning to earn the 100-point bonus for message
origination by sending a message to the MDC SM and/or SEC you may desire
to use the following means to ensure that your message reaches its
destination.

W3AO will be operating Field Day from Ellicott City, MD and will monitor
the WRN and CRN repeater frequencies to receive Field Day messages
addressed to the SM and/or SEC. For purposes of beam pointing, Ellicott
City is about 15 miles west of Baltimore. W3AO will monitor the
repeater frequencies according to the following schedule:
 Saturday 22 June 1700L 147.105 (CRN)
    1900L 147.090 (WRN)
    2100L 147.105
    2300L 147.090
 Sunday 23 June 0900L 147.105
    1100L 147.090
They will monitor this frequency indicated for fifteen minutes beginning
at each of these times. W3AO will hold all messages received and relay
them to the SEC several times during the Field Day period. All Field
Day participants in MDC are invited to use this service to reliably
forward messages to the MDC SM and/or SEC.

Good luck to all in the contest.
