MINUTES OF THE 10 JUNE CLUB MEETING ARE ATTACHED, 73

CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Minutes
The Carroll County Amateur Radio Club held its monthly meeting on June
10, 2002 at the Fire Training Center.
President Beckman, N3SB, called the meeting to order at 1938.
There were 26 members and 6 guests present.
All members and guests introduced themselves.
President Beckman presented his meeting agenda, made a few remarks and
announced that the next Board meeting will be on June 19th at 1930 in
the Fire Training Center.
Frank, K3MTT, will be taking ID photos during the meeting and at the
same time members will check the current roster for correct entries.
Minutes of the May Club and Board meetings were approved, motioned by
John, W3JJH, seconded by William, KB3GHE.
Monthly Treasurers report was read and approved, motioned by William,
KB3GHE, and seconded by John, W3JJH.
John, AK3Z, gave a brief summary of the May Board meeting.
Committees reported as follows;
Repeater - Bill, N3XLY, no report.
ARES/RACES - Phil, KE3FL, the photo Frank is taking tonight will be used
on the ARES/RACES ID card as well, he has a new database available for
those who want it, if you have not done so and wish to you may join the
group thru the ARES/RACES web site.
Station - John, AK3Z, equipment requirements for the station in the
2002-2003, budget are being revised due to the decrease in funding. The
committee suggested that a survey of club members to find out what
equipment they feel should be in the station, there will have to be a
tower party in order to mount antennas and make changes on the tower
shortly. He did not know what impact the EOC returning to the Fire
Training Center will have on club facilities.
Training - Clint, W3ARS, Classes will start later in June at the FTC and
will be held on Thursday evening, if interested contact Clint, see
roster for details.
Special Events - Jerry, N3GQK, no report and suggested the committee be
disbanded, for lack of contacts from outside organizations.
Hamfest - Steve, N3SB, has been busy getting as much publicity for the
Tailgate Fest and Hamfest as he can, so far he has contacted Auto Call,
CQ, World Radio, Nuts and Bolts, EHam.net, Breezeshooters.com,
Monitoring Times and 73 Magazine.
Membership - Frank, K3MTT, wants to get photos of all members present
tonight and welcomes other members to join the membership committee.
Publicity - Joe, N3YIM, The first quarterly newsletter is due in July,
Mike, N3VOP, has agreed to do the reproduction.
Club Barn - Joe, N3YIM, and custodian has made a request that we clean
up our side of the barn as they need access to a sprinkler valve at the
rear of the building on a regular basis for maintenance.
Budget - Steve, N3SB, presented the 2002-2003 budget for review; it is a
balanced budget, when asked for a vote the membership approved the
budget 25 for, 1 against. (Copy attached)
Old Business - none.
New Business - none.
Clint, W3ARS, made the following presentations to those who have
recently upgraded or received their first license, they were, up grading
the General, Travers, KB3HNO, Bart, N0NYY, Mike, N3VOP, and Yolanda,
KB3HKE, those who received their Technician ticket were Keith, KB3HHK
and Eric KB3HKG, congratulations to all.
Clint, W3ARS, presented the Field Day report, Freedom Park in Sykesville
will be the location of FD 2002, station captains are in the process of
recruiting operators, and visitors will be welcome to operate as well.
The equipment needs to be moved from the FTC to the site. Jerry, N3GQK,
suggested that we should be make sure the site is secure due to its
location and proximity to the local population. For those interested on
Saturday the 15th, a meeting at the FTC at 0900 will introduce you to
the generator and other accessories needed for FD, a dry run if you
will. Jack Kolb has a lot of camping equipment he is willing to load the
club for FD use. The annual picnic will be at 6PM Saturday the 22nd,
set-up will begin on the site at 4PM on Friday the 21st, and operation
will begin at 1400 Saturday and end at 1400 Sunday the 23rd. Two call
signs will be used, as voted by the members, K3PZN, will be the Club
call and K3AA, will be the GOTA call. Tires need to be installed on the
trailer prior to FD; as yet no decision has been made where they will be
purchased. Steve, N3SB, stated the rules for FD can be found on the ARRL
web site and that he will have FD pins and shirts for sale at FD. Clint,
W3ARS, thanked the station captains for their efforts so far for FD.
There being nothing further, the meeting adjourned at 2107.
