Committee reports;
Repeater - Larry, WX3F, gave a report on the spurring problem with the 2
meter repeater and that it had been corrected. At the same time he
checked the 450 repeater about complaints that it was weak and found it
is putting out only 1 watt, he will look into that problem as time
permits, it may need a new amp, and the 450 PL is 127.3. He has also
been in contact with the County abut the Sykesville remote site; they
will start making phone calls to the proper people to get the site on
line. Also if you plan on using the 2 meter repeater after midnight you
must set the PL, it is 144.8.
ARES/RACES - Larry, WX3F, there is not much going on that requires
ARES/RACES participation; he thanked those responsible for keeping the
CARET net going in his absence. He mentioned that Phil, KE3FL, has a
data base disc available for the asking. There is one event on the
calendar, the Wine Fest Bike Tour on September21st, help will be needed
to support this effort, and he would like two people at each rest stop
plus net control.
Membership - Frank, K3MTT, members who's due are coming due and those
that have not renewed were notified by e-mail where available, there is
a new roster on line, if you need a copy e-mail him. The new Badges are
being worked on and will be available shortly, also, the new ID cards
that he has completed were passed out to members present, and he is
available to take member ID pictures after the meeting.
Special Events - Jerry, N3GQK, no report, he is not aware of any up
coming events. President Beckman suggested he coordinate with Larry, WX3F.
Station - John, AK3Z, will meet shortly to select equipment to upgrade
station and will formulate a survey to be completed by members of what
they think should be in the station, they will meet a Stables in
Westminster this Friday at 7pm.
Training and Education - Clint, W3ARS, classes are still being conducted
on Thursday evenings, Al, K3ZE, has started a General Class upgrade
theory class on Saturday mornings at 9am at the FTC. A test session was
held on the 30th of June with 9 attendees, there were 3 upgrades and 2
new hams from this session.
Tailgate Fest - Joe, N3YIM, will be on the 11th of August at the AG
Center, we need to set-up on Saturday the 10th at 4pm, and help is
needed on the 11th starting at 5am, there are sign up sheets to sign up
to help. Everything is ready, the treasurer needs to send a check for
the rent, and a sign needs to be made for the Restrooms. I will check
the Friday before to make sure all is ok.
Newsletter - Joe, N3YIM, to date I have 6 pages ready with several more
to go, there will be a special page for the Field Day articles, so far I
have two articles from FD. I hope to get the letter out by mid month,
however, that seems impossible at this time, when it comes time to mail
will need help then.
Hamfest - Steve, N3SB, he has sent flyers to several publications that
cover both the Hamfest and Tailgate Fest, Joe, N3YIM, reported he has
sent several e-mails to ham related businesses for flyers or handouts
for the club table, a few have responded favorably already.
911 Move - Buddy, KD3UZ, he said that the move is in the planning stages
with nothing finalized as yet, he will keep us informed. Several
recommendations have been presented, and the interests of the club have
been presented.
There was no new business.
Field Day debriefing;
Clint, W3ARS, Field Day Chairman thanked all who participated, lots of
folks who are not club members or hams showed up to see what was going
on, the food was great and enjoyed by all. There are several logs that
need to be submitted to Steve, they are due at ARRL by the 22nd of July.
The generator needs some work on the fuel system and carburetor, Wayne,
N3UN, suggested that we should keep a new fuel filter on hand at all
times and that Sta-bil should be added to the fuel tank to help
eliminate these problems in the future. Keith, KB3HHK, reported that he
is willing to do the cooking again, but only if he gets more help. There
was much talk and discussion about smaller, light weight and easier
starting generators on the market that the club may want to consider.
Jim,WX3B, showed off his fish line antenna launcher. And lastly, Clint
passed out certificates (Thanks Al) to all who participated at Field Day
regardless of what capacity they participated in.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2136.
