[K3PZN-List] et News #7

Why is it that mailman drops off the first character
of the title?
I sent "Net News #7" and that came through when it was
sent directly to me, but when I received it via
mailman I get [K3PZN-List]et News #7 as if
"[K3PZN-List]" is replaceing the N in Net.
What gives?
