CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB MINUTES

Minutes of the April 8, 2002 minutes, held at the Fire Training Center, 
Westminster Maryland

Meeting was called to order by President Beckman at 7:35pm, there were 
31 members present and no guests.

President made several announcements;

a. Hamfest flyers are in, and are available for anyone who is going to a 
Hamfest to distribute, they are in the radio room, pick up as you need them.
b. The next Board meeting will be Wednesday the 17th at 7:30pm at the 
Fire Training Center, all are welcome.
c. I will start articles in AutoCall once again.

President opened the floor for Hamfest stories from last weekend, there 
were a few to the enjoyment of the membership.

Attendees introduced themselves by name and call sign, now we know each 
other.

The Treasurer, Bill N3WM, gave his report. (copy attached to club copy 
of the minutes)

John AK3Z, gave a report on the Board meeting of March 20, 2002. (copy 
attached to club copy of minutes)

The secretaries' report for the March meeting was given by Bill N3XLY.

Committee reports were given as follows;

TAILGATE - Joe N3YIM , is set for August 11 at the Ag Center, fee is 
$125, and this is a reduction of $50 because we are non-profit.

ARES/RACES - Phil KE3FL, has the ARES/RACES disc available for copy, and 
he explained the contents and how they work. Larry WX3F, attended the EC 
meeting at the Hamfest last Saturday, traffic handling, homeland 
security and the needs for the involvement of Ham Radio were discussed, 
we need to make sure we have a call up tree for quick response in case 
of an emergency, the current ARES/RACES roster is the one that will be 
used for access to secure facilities, i.e. the EOC. Larry wants all 
messages produced at the MS walk to be in ARRL format with written copy, 
Jeannine KB3CAW mentioned that a traffic manual for ARRL traffic is 
available from the Northern Virginia Traffic Net web site.

STATION - John AK3Z, will be meeting soon, wants to organize an antenna 
party and tower work also needs to be completed, new antennas are here, 
the new budget must be formulated for submission to the board, anyone 
interested can join the committee.

REPEATER - Larry WX3F, the Sykesville repeater is working and still 
waiting for the fiber line to be connected, the 6 meter repeater has 
been noted as noisy lately and some passive signals are suspect.

EDUCATION - Clint W3ARS, recognized those who have recently upgraded, 
Bart N0NYY, Yolanda KB3HKE and Mike N3VOP to General, he mentioned that 
Jim WX3B, will be holding CW classes and will announce schedule on the 
2M repeater, he also thanked the VE team for their support.

FIELD DAY - Clint W3ARS, field day will require several operators and 
station captains, location is to be determined.

Steve N3SB discussed the calendar of events he has published and copies 
were available for members.

There was no old business.

New Business, Larry WX3F made following motion, "That the club purchase 
the IC-2100 radio from the estate of KB3OJ for $100 for use with the 
RACES computer." Voted and passed.

Note - Photo ID's will be scheduled at a later date for use on the new 
club ID card, Frank K3MTT
Meeting went informal at 8:15pm with a round of Hints and Kinks, several 
were discussed.
