[K3pzn-board] FW: CC ES Expo

Guys,

Please see Tony's email below. I was going to bring this up at the next
club meeting but he beat me to it. Does someone on the Board wish to help
Tony on that one Saturday and represent the club? There will be some minor
preparation work beforehand and then attending the event. The last few
months have been very hectic and for August we still have the online
equipment sale to manage, tailgate fest 6 days before, and regular club
meeting, not to mention another Board meeting. If you have not had the time
or the inclination so far this year to help out with an event, this would be
a good chance for you to do so. Remember that we will also need to decide
who can work the Tailgate fest but I think we should divide everything up
given all the work that needs to happen in a short time and how much work we
have had to do this year. To be fair, I don't expect anyone or everyone to
work both events. But we should decide who can help out for planning
purposes and to get someone working with Tony. If no one is available or
can work this event, I will have to go to the general club population and
ask around.

Thanks.

John

John,

The CC Emergency Services Expo is scheduled for August 24 on the parking lot
at Home Depot. Hours of operation are from 9am to 2pm.

I have committed a ham radio presence and have made several arrangements
already. Dave KB3QMR's trailer, generator, two masts and his Comet GP-3
antenna are lined up. Two stations (one voice, one WL2K) in operation
in the trailer seem reasonable and adequate. Radio gear will come from
the county Go Kits (I'll take care of that part). We will need a laptop for
WL2K (I can use my netbook). Also, one antenna is needed (VHF/UHF). Dave
and I can handle the set-up and tear-down as we did
during FD (help always welcome). I can't speak for Dave during the 9-2
slot, but I plan to be there for the duration.

I asked for a block of four parking spaces for our operation and will find
out on Monday where and in what configuration. I will also determine what
signage that the county will provide (if any). If CC doesn't, then we may
have to make some signs. Our theme is CCARC/ARES/RACES/MARS--Ham Radio
Serving Carroll County.

It seems appropriate for the club to take the lead on this (and I apologize
for the late announcement). The event is an opportunity to get others
involved, especially as operators (and organizers). Would you please appoint
someone to organize the activity? For the club's liability insurance to
cover the activity, it needs the club's "blessing", too.

In short, it would be appreciated if you can find someone to take the lead
in organizing the activity.

TNX ES 73,
Tony KF3AK
