[K3pzn-board] Fw: Field Day

Let's make our decision after other board members weigh in, but count me in so 3 votes to operate from the FTC as a 3,4 or 5 F. (let's also let F stand for fun for ALL -- let's diversify MORE than last year).
I suggest we gather info on who will participate, and make our operation at least 3F. I realize Andy does not like seeing unoccupied transmitters past midnight, but I don't like to see potential operators standing around during prime time. 2 SSB + 2 CW + 1 digital should at least be explored. or if we are gloriously networked, we could consider 4 transmitters being scheduled across all 3 modes.
No one will remember our score by FD next year -- but if we make it a real memorable experience they will ! I want to draw in participation from those who don't like 'contesting' also.
I would like to encourage, in a friendly way, that all our ops experience at least 2 modes in FD ! Let's avoid guru syndrom where we become slaves to a rig.
Should we consider a VHF station ? It could also double in demonstrating 'interoperability' with one or more other FD sites to:
- pass traffic (literally have a 2m FM intercomm to other FD sites, repeater or simplex -- not for QSO credit of course!)
- demonstrate visual communication (EasyPal)
- consider SSTV if it is supported by our SM or whomever !
I know one potential 'free agent' who might be interested in bringing himself and a SSB rig to our event. He is a CARA member but his lower end rig isn't welcome at their FD.
Another potential 'free agent' K3ESE has participated with us a couple times in the past - if he were interested we could consider running our second CW station as QRP battery just for the fun of it !
I think our theme should be more fun and fellowship for all, and friendly interaction with visitors that gets them involved in seeing radio in action.
OK I needed a diversion from my daily routine at work!
