Hello all,
An old friend of mine, Joe Horton, K3FPE, loaned me a Yeasu, FL-2000 Linear
Amplifier some time ago, but I decided to get a new Ameritron AL-572
amplifier recently and Joe said that I could pass it on to the Carroll
County Amatuer Radio Club, if we want it. He said that we could do anything
we wish with it, use it, sale it or give it away. The amplifier seems
complete and has a manual. It is set up to run on 110 Volts, 1 Phase. It
will operate on 80 thru 10 meters at about 1200 watts input with about 30-
50 watts of drive. It uses (4) 6KD6 run in parallel and has a built in
power supply. It will need some repairs as when I powered it up, I noticed
that the indicator lights seem to be burned out and the on-off switch is
shorted in the ON position. All four tubes do light up and the blower fan
operates. I did not apply any RF so I cann't say how the amp functions. It
does have a manual and schematic, so it shouldn't be too hard for someone to
put it back in full working order.
I thought it would make an interesting item for one of our internal club
auctions with or without the repairs ahead of time?
What do you all think?
John, K3KWO
