  Board meeting report; John AK3Z reported, there is going to be a Radio
Recycling committee formed to obtain inexpensive radio for use by new
hams; and a committee of Elmer's to help want to be hams; there was
discussion about RACES/ARES support to area events; members need to send
addresses of businesses you do business with to Frank K3MTT for the van
mailing list.

  Committees;

    Van - insurance has been secured for the van from Barnes/Bollinger;
Jack Kolb asked that the percentage of the money collected that will
used for the van project be stated in the solicitation letter; Al K3ZE
asked where the van project stands, Keith W3MDC will publish on the web
what we have so far at the mission, etc; Chuck K3FT suggested that we
define what we can provide and do if requested and not try to do what
every agency wants us to do as this gets very complicated because every
agency has specific things they want done, by doing this saves a lot of
time and trouble.

    Civil War Century Bike Ride - John AK3Z would suggest we take
emergency operating seriously and become very efficient at operating, as
seen at the bike ride when there were very serious incidents that
required attention; we need more help at these type events; he
thanked all those who participated.

    Station - John AK3Z chairman reports that we need to order a few
parts and when received an installed we will have a new beam.

    ARES/RACES - Larry WX3F, there will be a drill on September 14th

this Saturday, meet at the AG center no later than 8AM for assignments;
ARES/RACES will meet at the FTC September 25th to discuss the upcoming
SET; October 2d is the SET, this is a good exercise for all mode training.

    FAR Hamfest - Mike N3VOP, 4 members of the club operated a multi
mode station during the UHF/VHF contest from the FAR Hamfest in
Gaithersburg, although the bands were really bad they had a good time
and learned a lot about set up and operating in similar events.

  Laird K3LMB suggested that the club should have a mission statement as
well as all the committees.

  There was no new business.

  Jim K4CGY announced that Amateur Radio Appreciation Day would be held
at the Frederick Mall this Saturday.

  Sean KB3IMT showed a Heathkit Electronic Workshop kit his brother
found, several members would like to get their hands on this on; he even
has the original box it came in.

  John W3JJH won the 50/50, $24.00

  There being nothing further the meeting adjourned at 2145 local.

Submitted;
