CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Minutes
The Carroll County Amateur Radio Club met on May 9th at the FTC
President Beckman called the meeting to order at 1940 local time, thee
were 25 members and 5 guests present, each member and guest introduced
themselves to the group.
Presidents remarks included; RACES drills have been cancelled until
further notice, individual counties may hold their own drills at their
call; next meeting is June 14th, Field Day will be the discussion of
interest; at the July meeting Bruce Carpenter will make a presentation
on grounding; at the August meeting our own Clint W3ARS will make a
presentation on his recent expeditions; on May 19th the CCARC board will
meet at the FTC, the budget will be reviewed and discussed; the MS Walk
on April 25th was a great success with a large turnout of members; the
Mid-Atlantic QSO party is the weekend of 8-9 May, the club will be open
for contesting, with good food, drinks and fun for all, we hope to make
lots of contacts, let Al K3ZE or Jim WX3B know if you will attend;
President reviewed the mail; Chuck N3TOT has room for one person at
Dayton; Boy Scout Jamboree at Freedom Park the 15th-17th June, they will
be on the air.
President Beckman introduces Dan Zeitlin K2YWE who gave a very nice
presentation about contesting, it was well received by all, and the club
thanks Dan for his efforts.
Secretary report – N3YIM noted no new or old business in the minutes, a
copy is posted in the radio room, N5LBJ motioned to accept, Keith KB3HHK
seconded, voted and passed.
Treasurer’s report was not present, N3WM is on vacation.
BOD report – John AK3Z gave a report on the last board meeting, a copy
of the minutes of that meeting are posted in the radio room.
Committees;
Station – John AK3Z there are no new equipment requests at this time,
the beam needs to be assembled and installed on the tower.
285 Repeater – Doug N5LBJ the controller has been assembled and is here
this evening.
Youth – Doug N5LBJ next meeting May 15th, he needs to know who will attend.
Digital – John K3KWO mentioned an interface in QST, a web site
www.packetradio.com/BBBB.HTM <http://www.packetradio.com/BBBB.HTM>; he
also asks for more checkins for the digital net, they will meet here
prior to the next meeting at 7PM.
Van – Keith KB3HHK is seeking help from the County to fix up and equip
the van.
Membership – no report
Field Day – Al K3ZE and station captains to meet at Freedom Park on Jun
6th to pick out their operating positions, meet there at 7PM.
Youth Training – Keith KB3HHK has no attendees signed up as of this date.
50/50 Drawing was won by Bill N3NNF, $23.50.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 2125.
