Greetings to ALL,
I think AL has begun a great start at trying to get the membership
dues arrears problem resolved. The amendments that he lists are certainly
steps in the right direction. I would even say that they are still to
lenient. What about this for amendments:
Amendments to the By-Laws:
1) If membership dues fall more than 30 days arrears the member will be
leaved a penalty of $5.00 for every month that their membership dues are in
the arrears.
2) If member does not renew their dues after 6 months the dues are not paid
that person is bared for life from membership of the organization.
Look, we are all adults here. The point is that we don't let our personal
bills go and not pay them!! If we do then we PAY THE consequences!
I would also like everyone to consider this, If you don't pay dues to the
club, you don't use the repeater unless it is an emergency. Let's face it
group, we are moving to a new level of activity in the club. The repeater is
an asset the is primarily owned by the club. This is going to take both
money and bodies to make these new tasks that we have taken on to come to
fruition. The point is that paying dues, as cheap as it is, is something
that any club member should be willing to do. I think that we need to
basically say look, we other need your money to serve the county and the
clubs future activities, or we need your time and sweat.
I am not sure how we would pay for time and sweat as it relates to dues, but
this is something to think about.
Amendment to the By-Laws:
3) Regular Membership Dues will be $30.00 a year
Student Membership Dues will be $15.00 a year
Family Membership Dues will be $45.00 a year
I would also like to recommend that we raise the dues to $30.00 a year. Lets
face it guys. The Xmas dinner is costing us $15.00. The membership has to
pay a little over a dollar a month to belong to the club. This really should
not be out the reach of anyone. If they don't want to come to the dinner,
then say fine, we lower the dues to reflect not having to pay for that
member to go to the dinner.
I know that I was opposed to the raising of members dues last year, but the
point is that we did not have the projects on the table then as we do now.
We really need to consider this for the benefit of the organization.
Now, I know that this is going to get some board members blood to boil, but
please lets discuss this, I mean if we are going to be a club that makes a
difference, then we need money and sweat to make this happen. We also need
to discuss these ideas, because we are really going to be facing a lot of
fiscal responsibility in the future. We are going to have a lot of eyes on
our organization when we accept money from the County, State, and Federal
Government.
