[K3pzn-board] Cost of the Truck repairs

Based on my experiences with the truck, this does not seem unreasonable to
me. I do have a few questions, however.
1) After $1800 + of repairs, will the vehicle pass MD inspection and
emissions testing?
2) Is this just what it would take to get the vehicle into drivable
condition , or will this keep us on the road for a while?
3) What additional repair(s), if any, would he reccommend at this time?
4) Ultimately, we'd like this vehicle ready to respond for emergency
communications support anywhere within a 100 mile radius of Westminster.
Does he feel confident that these repairs would enable this vehicle to
reliably travel such distances (and back) without breaking down? I'm NOT
looking for a guarantee here, just a little bit of confidence.
Having said that, I feel we should proceed. (Of course, I AM a little
biased.) We should also contact Buddy, et. al. and discuss it openly with
them. They might be of great service to us. Who knows, they might even get
the county to paint the truck for us at little or no cost! Maybe it is
time for another dinner meeting.
Your thoughts gentlemen......

Greetings All,
I just received a fax estimate of the repair cost of the
donated
MPT truck:
Parts
Labor
General CheckOut : $
90.81
Sway Bar End Links $ 68.76 $
60.54
High Beam Switch $ 15.64 $
30.27
Tail Pipe Hanger $ 15.00 $
30.27
R/Side Exhaust Manifold $ 595.92 $ 302.70
R/Side Air Injector Pipe $ 180.15 $
30.27
Water Pump $ 90.06 $
302.70
---------------------
------------------
$ 965.53
$ 847.56
Total Repair Cost $ 1,813.09
Now, with this said I remember from our discussion with Buddy Redman that
their may be some homeland defense money available to help
us with the repair of the truck. Todd also said that he is willing to help
by donating 10% off the labor. I will talk to him some more and see if
we can't get a little more off. Also, he is storing the truck for us for now
at no charge. So I would recommend that you guys think about it and then
we should probably start a roundtable on the board reflector on what to do
before the next general meeting.
