OK. My second attempt at being secretary for a month. I hope I did not
forget anything or anyone.....
The last meeting of the Carroll County Amateur Radio Club Board of
Directors meeting was held on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at the Fire
Training Center. Members present were Steve, N3SB, Bill, N3WM, John, AK3Z,
Frank, K3MTT, Doug, N5LBJ, and Keith, KB3HHK. Joe, N3YIM was on vacation.
The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by President Beckman.
Doug, N5LBJ provided needed cost estimates for parts and incidentals for
the Youth program. He also needs a router to finish wood bases for
projects the kids will complete. Frank, K3MTT will assist in providing
materials, labor, and tools to finish the wooden bases as required. The
Board is supporting the Youth organization and has suggested calling it the
"Youth Committee".
Bill, N3WM and John, AK3Z will provide the needed replacement cost
information for club insurance purposes. Bill is getting quotes on
repeater equipment and supporting units. John will provide replacement
cost on club station equipment. Information to be provided before the next
club meeting and submitted to Board before final application to ARRL.
Board needs new update from Larry, WX3F on progress with the remote receive
site. Board is looking for updates on meetings that have been held with
MEIMS organization and Carroll County officials.
The CCARC support of the BBC Civil War Century was a huge success. The
Board believes that a "Thank You" letter from BBC to CCARC will be
beneficial in getting future support and also good press for our club in
community activities.
There were great comments from those who attended the Tailgate Fest in
August. Apparently, this event is getting better each year and attendees
are supporting us.
There was further discussion of bulk mailing of postcard announcements
through the postal service.
The Board also further discussed the upcoming hamfest, types and styles of
tickets, differences between tailgaters and regular attendees, and who
should be free (accompanying non-ham spouse). It was also suggested that
the Youth organization should take an active role in supporting the
hamfest.
Lastly, there was mention of planning for the November sweepstakes. We
have a great station to work with!!
Meeting adjourned at 21:00.
