Greetings Joe;
Minutes look good to me. With the weather we've had lately, a FIRE TRAINING
CENTER sure sounds like a comfortable place to be!

HI GUYS;
ANY CORRECTIONS BEFORE IT IS SENT TO MEMBERS????
JOE
CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS Minutes
The CCARC Board of Directors met at the Fire Training Center on
Wednesday January 22, 2002.
Members present were Steve N3SB, John AK3Z, Jim K4CGY, Clint W3ARS,
Frank K3MTT, Bill N3WM, Jerry N3GQK and Joe N3YIM.
President Beckman emphasized the three points that Tom W3TOM made at
the January Club meeting and said that the club should work in that
direction to make the Club better, we do a good job in most areas, but
there is room for improvement; 1) support ARES; 2) Do something
different; 3) think before you talk. Steve also said that we need to
come up with a plan for communications support to the County in case of
an emergency; we need to ascertain what members are available and at
what times during the day or night and what equipment can we provide to
the support (ARES/RACES has this info), included in the plan should be
an extensive overview of just what we can provide. There was much
discussion on this proposal and planning will continue in the coming
months.
Steve asked Bill if he would check our insurance to be sure all our
equipment has been covered as well as the liability coverage.
There was discussion on the establishment of a Carroll County Amateur
Radio Club Scholarship to be given to a club member or student within
Carroll County. We need ideas on attracting younger people to become
Hams. There was also discussion on how best to spread the word of Ham
radio and our club and its activities to drum up interest, we need to
get their attention. These discussions will continue later.
Joe reports that the contracts for the Tailgate and Ham Fests have
been signed with very little change from last year, the most significant
change is we did not rent Medford Hall for the hamfest, we have rented
it in the past but have not used it in several years, if we need to use
the hall for an overflow of vendors we can pay the rent upon conclusion
of the Hamfest. The Board approved that Bill issue a check to cover
both rentals; it will be delivered to the AG Center.
Clint reported that there are a great set of tapes used for preparing
individuals to take the ARRL tests, he requested that his 2002-03 budget
be increased by $100 in order to purchase them, the board did not object
and will be voted at the February meeting.
Joe reported that the 2 Meter ICOM radio had a problem with the signal
fluctuating up and down when in the PreAmp mode during the UHF/VHF
contest last weekend, Steve and Jerry checked it out and found there is
a problem which they believe will easily be fixed.
There being nothing further the meeting adjourned at 2115.
Submitted;
Joe Ebaugh, N3YIM
Secretary
