CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Minutes

The Carroll County Amateur Radio Club met during the Holiday Dinner on
December 7th 2003 at Boulevard and Beyond, there were 31 members and 17
guests present.

President Beckman called the meeting to order at 1830, he made the
following remarks; the next board meeting will be on the 17th at Stables
in Westminster; he announced the Jim WX3B needs operators for the
contest on the weekend of 13-14th; the club participated in the November
Sweepstakes and did well considering the antenna situations at the
station and propagation was not all that good, the one station needed
for a sweep had only 250 contacts and we were one of them, so not many
had a sweep; Jerry N3GQK, John AK3Z and Steve have been working on the
antennas for the past several weekends and have nearly completed the
installation; January meeting is a if you built it, bring it to show
your handy work; elections are to be held in March, if you want to run
for office let the nominations committee know; he read a letter from
Governor Erlich which granted the excess van from Maryland Public TV to
the club.

Continuing he stated that the year in review was a good one, we were the
only 11A at field day so we won that category; the tailgate fest was a
success again this year; we supported the Civil War Bike Ride and the
Wine Fest Bike Ride; there was a great response in support of hurricane
Isabelle and finally the Mason Dixon Hamfest is getting bigger and
better each year and this year was no exception.

The following members had comments;

John AK3Z reviewed the station work over the past year, new radios, new
antennas and new furniture, he thanked Jerry N3GQK, Doug N5LBJ, Al K3ZE
and Steve N3SB for their help with the antenna installations, and he
further thanked Steve for all the time he has spent working on the club
station.

Bill N3WM reviewed the club finances and thanked Steve for his many
contributions to the club treasury.

Larry WX3F thanked all those who supported the call for assistance for
hurricane Isabelle, he read the list of those responding, and he
mentioned the meeting the Board and ARES/RACES committee had with the
county communications personnel pertaining to our mission on the county
master emergency response plan, he thanked those who helped with both
the Civil War and Wine Fest Bike rides and during the Isabelle emergency
he had the opportunity to brief all the county agencies on what the club
can provide in the way of communications if called upon.

President Beckman awarded Certificates of Appreciation to the following;
Jamie, daughter of Keith KB3HHK; John AK3Z; Bill N3WM; Jerry N3GQK;
Joyce N3GQJ; Frank K3MTT; Keith KB3HHK; Bryan AA3XZ; Doug N5LBJ; Larry
WX3F; Clint W3ARS; John K3KWO; Pat N8PK; Al K3ZE and Joe N3YIM.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Ham of the Year
award, awarded this year to Mike N3VOP for his service to the club by
handling the QSL mailings; Chairing the Tailgate Fest; co-establishing
the Central Maryland 6 Meter Net and reproduction of the clubs Newswaves
letter.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 1920.
