Hi Clint et al.
I have seen car/trailer tires rot from 5 to 10" years depending on 
how their used and kept. If there in a dry area like my garden 
tractor, they could last 15+ years and be safe. I think our trailer 
has the tires exposed and in contact with the ground, the worse case 
senario.


If the tires last 10 years and we put on 500 miles a year, then that 
would only be 5000. Most tires will go 30k. We probably have put 
only 10 miles per year on up till now. At that rate we will  only 
put 100 miles on a pair of tires that will be rotted  or on their way.

So, why not buy the cheapest tire ... we are never going to wear out 
the thread. And as loads go, the trailor and generator is light. My 
boat and trailer are larger and heavier and use smaller, thinner 
tires. Speaking of which those tires are 11 years old, average less 
than 100 miles per year, show no thread use but in spite of being 
garage kept and treated with preservative are starting to show signs 
of dry rot.
