I was able to QSO with 7 stations on 20M and one station on 60M, but it was tough.  Band conditions were really bad.  Had to turn the amplifier on.  Adding to the problem was not knowing which of the several frequencies listed for the military stations they were actually on.   Had to guess by time of day, i.e. 20m and up in daylight; lower frequencies near sunset and evening.  Lots of frequency switching and listening.

Did anyone have success with/ the Cross-band test?  I could hear AAZ (FT Huchucka, AZ), with considerable fading- to the point I could never hear the Freq they were monitoring. I finally had a QSO with USS MIDWAY/NIIW around 2015R/0015Z.  I’d hear them at the noise floor on and off throughout the day, not not enough to make out what they’re saying..

The US Department of Defense will host this year’s Armed Forces Day (AFD) Cross-Band Test on Saturday, May 10. The event is open to all radio amateurs. This event is scheduled to include some distant and some stations that are local to our area. They will transmit on their frequencies and we transmit on ours. Please see their website for details:
