That’s really impressive. My first contact into the event I was mobile down at the St James Deli shown by a blue arrow. I was on a 5+ watt HT and a mag mount impressive range clearly my end wasn’t doing the heavy lifting!

You may recall that CARA attended National Night Out on August 6th 2024, at the Broomes Island Community Center. While there, Erik KC3QQD held a special two hour Talk Around Tuesday net. He operated a portable mobile radio on battery power connected to a directional antenna, transmitting simplex UHF to the cross band radio at the Barstow tower. His transmissions were crossed to a VHF sinplex frequency transmitting only 10 watts, on the 250 foot south facing antenna.
