Good evening,
Lisa and I have just returned from the Sunderland tower site. We reset the spare Yaesu DR1 beta repeater, only to have it fail again before we made it home.
That's it for this radio, it was our bald spare tire and it just blew out. The 2 meter repeater will remain off the air until time is available to
re-reprogram the Icom FR3000, our doughnut mini spare tire with half the tread worn off it. It will remain in the rack without linking capability to Lusby, until our normal, also aging, Yaesu DR1x with our last spare RC210 controller is adjusted for on air operations, hopefully restoring the link to Lusby long enough for two replacement repeaters to be ordered, programmed and installed.
Yes, New replacement repeaters, Brand New, Commercial Repeaters, two of them. One for Sunderland and one for Lusby need to be purchased. Early estimates put the price tag at $ 5,200 to $ 6,000 for both repeaters. A price that pales in comparison to the money already invested in obsolete outdated repeaters and controllers.
Time to install a set of brand name 90,000 mile tires. If you or anyone you know can take the time to make a donation for replacing the repeaters. Then please visit:
