Good morning all. I trust everyone's been keeping an eye on the forecast. Here's the jist of this as it stands now. Keep in mind, things sometimes can, and do, change. If you have suggestions or ideas, feel free to put them out there. This is a group effort!
Both the K3CAL linked system and the GMRS repeater will be monitored and can be used for reporting/monitoring. I realize not everyone has GMRS capability so coordination for monitoring that is being handled. Should we loose the repeater(s) for any reason, 146.580 simplex for amateur service and GMRS channel 19 simplex will be used with relays if possible.
The net will be called when the snow/winter mix begins Saturday, or at 0700 Sunday (if precipitation begins after 2100 Saturday) and operate daily from 0700-2100 as need and resources dictate. You can choose to check in if you'd like or simply monitor and report. The K3CAL repeaters will be in Skywarn mode but will be open for normal activity. The Calv650 GMRS repeater will remain available also. Please give weather reports priority. Net control will call every two (2) hours at the top of the hour to except and relay reports. Please include your location (city/town) and spotter I.D. number, if you have one, when reporting.
Net control/NWS will be looking for the following:
*
1”+ snow in 24 hours
* 1”+ snow in past hour
* Freezing rain/drizzle
*
Any ice accumulation
*
Power outages/downed lines/any road or travel hazards
If you are the current net control, reports can be forwarded to NWS via phone, email, or google form (email and google form are probably the better choice). Here's the phone number, link to the form, and email address:

lwx-report at noaa.gov
If you wish to forward reports between calls from net control, feel free to do so but keep in mind the folks and phones there will be very busy due to calls from all over the region so some calls could be missed or delayed in answering. Email and google form could be your best option and will provide a record. (reference NWS Baltimore/Washington SKYWARN<https://www.weather.gov/lwx/skywarn> click the "Submit a Report" tab)
We will also be in contact with Calvert Emergency Management in an effort to keep them up to date with local conditions. Shawn and I have access to WebEOC and can forward reports that way, so please keep us up to date. We can also relay anything you believe to be pertinent or critical to the community. Kara Buckmaster will be monitoring the repeater(s) as well so she'll may hear everything in real time.
Net control will also announce any info they believe to be critical/pertinent or any changes to net operations so please be monitoring.
Obviously, this could be a prolonged event, so we'll need folks to step in and assist. If you want to give someone a break or wish take over for a while, please do. It's not hard.
Ideas, suggestions, or comments???
Thanks everyone who's already volunteered and please stay warm, dry, and most important... SAFE!
Andy
