[K3CAL] Special Meeting for Selection of New Trustee for CARA's Club Call - K3CAL

CARA membership,
 
An earlier email from our President, KB3WFV, conveyed the sad news of Don Kirby's passing.  As many of you know, Don was the Trustee for our club call, K3CAL  Don served in that capacity for many years. We now must choose a new Trustee for K3CAL.  The process for this is:
   1. CARA membership must vote on a new Trustee from its current membership roster.
   2. The vote of the membership needs to be recorded in the Secretary's meeting minutes and signed by the club officers.
   3. An ARRL VEC Form 605-C must be filled out, signed by the new Trustee and a club officer (who cannot also be the Trustee), and sent to ARRL along with the above meeting minutes.
         -Note:  The FCC had transferred club license administration to VEC's some time ago.
 
IN ORDER TO EXPEDITE THIS PROCESS, A SPECIAL MEETING IS BEING CALLED PER  ARTICLE VII, SECTION 3 OF OUR BY-LAWS.

Other CARA members are welcome to toss their hat in the ring at the special meeting or before.  While not strictly required, a Trustee holding an Extra Class license is preferred.  Operating privileges on a club call sign depend entirely on the license class of the individual acting as the control operator at the time of transmission, not the trustee.  What's a Trustee's duties?  It's fairly simple (text from ARRL site):
 
          Think of the club station license trustee as the "chief control operator" for the club station license. It is the duty of the trustee to act in the best interests of the club; after all, the station license belongs to the club, not to the trustee individually. The club station license trustee must designate control operators to ensure that the station is operated as the club wants it to be. A club station control operator is designated by the club license trustee and must be someone who is trusted and will follow all FCC rules at all times.
           
          The Trustee also serves as the club's contact for the FCC.
