[K3CAL] CARA to replace and upgrade K3CAL repeaters

On April 9th 2026, CARA members present at the monthly meeting. Voted to replace and upgrade the K3CAL repeaters. The existing amateur repeaters will be replaced with commercial grade repeaters with built in IP networking. Operating on CARA current frequencies, these commercial repeaters offer CARA the ability to link Sunderland to Lusby over a secure private network microwave link, backed up with a fiber optic network, reducing the complexity of supporting a linked repeater system while providing better service to the amateur radio community.

The replacement and upgrades, anticipated to be completed in May, has and estimated cost of $6,000. Currently CARA is accepting donations to help offset the cost of the project. Below is a list of donors so far. If you or someone you know can pass along a donation, it would be greatly appreciated.
