Good Morning,
Last night's Hybrid in person Zoom SKYWARN class with CARA and Calvert County was a huge success! Nineteen people attended the class including County Emergency Management staff member and avid CARA supporter, Kara Buckmaster.
The Southern Maryland Subnet manager would like to know how many folks on this email list signed up and participated in the class. If you did please let me know by replying to this email.
If you didn't, you missed an very interesting class about how severe weather forms. Including several local examples of extreme weather with information on how to 'read' the clouds.
The National Weather Service wants and encourages SKYWARN Spotter reports from trained individuals like you, especially amateur radio operators. Even Calvert County monitors our severe weather nets to get situational awareness about conditions in the county. If severe weather occurs in the K3CAL linked repeater system listening area, be sure to check in to the SKYWARN net with any severe weather reports. Even if you do not have a spotter ID, net control will forward your information to the National Weather Service. This helps the NWS fine tune their forecast while providing the Calvert Emergency management with real time information.
So, How many signed up and took the class ???
Brian
