Team,

Just a quick update.

Thank you Mike, I concure with Brian regarding the scouting and GOTA for field day.   I can make available a HF/50/144/440 radio (FT 847) as a station to opperate as GOTA.

Mike, It would be great if you could make the meeting on 6:30pm Thursday June 12th 2025, at Broomes Island so we could discus further details.

I think The suggestion of "pot luck" for the field day food is excelent, we have Andy offering some sausages and the (aparently infamouse) baked beans from Lisa, thanks.  Any further offerings please let me know so we can get it listed here.

Andy, are we still waiting to hear from Richard, W3RBR regarding the generators?

If anyone is brining any items or equiptment please ensure they are clearly marked so there will be no confusion when we do the packup.  I will be brining loads of tyewrap style tags to use if required.

If I am missing anything please let me know.

Regards

Nigel Fenton - G0JKN

Hi Mike,

Yes! Absolutely bring the scouts along. They are more than welcomed. I am not aware of any GOTA plans, best to check with Nigel on that. I'm sure one could be easily put together. If I may ask that you coordinate this, I would be very grateful.

If you want to schedule a time between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday. We should be up and running by 2pm. Can be later than 6pm if need be.

If the troop leaders want to get a feel for things, might invite them to join us this coming Thursday June 12th 2025, at Broomes Island for our final planning meeting.

Thanks

Good Day Field Day Organizers,

At the last POTA, we were talking about a Scout Troop stopping by and seeing what field day and amateur radio was all about. I’ve been talking to my son’s troop, and they’re looking to add it to the calendar.  If the club is still interested in a few scouts coming by during field day, maybe getting on the air (it’s extra points, still, right? Site visitation, education activity, GOTA) what would be a good range of time for me tell them?  Happy to be the one that handles the education activities with the Scouts, or operate the GOTA station while they are there, if we have one.

Let me know if I should wave them off, or what a good time as to not interfere with other club activities.

Excellent Nigel! I like the list. I edited the subject line, you can add version 1,2,3 etc to the subject line as it grows. Below you will find some items to add to the list.

First, A note about the antenna system.

There will be Five (5) connections, one for 10, 15, 20, 40, and 80.

All five stations can operate at the same time.

Each station *HAS TO* stay on the Band assigned to that Filter.

Each station can operate any mode.

Club Members are welcomed to bring their own rigs and connect to the antenna system.

Those who choose to set up their own antennas WILL NOT be happy, their will be FIVE filtered stations transmitting.

Those who bring their own rigs, may want to bring their own power supply.

CARA CAN NOT be responsible for damage to rigs.

You can add the following......

Under equipment add

Club's antenna mast, rope and stakes

Club's feed lines.

Club's Elecraft, ( I think it's a K3 ? )

Club's power supply.

Club's First Aid Kit.

Club's two laptops. (unless you have counted those already).

Club's Network Router. (I think it's WiFi ?)

Add a heading for food ( I suggest potluck)

Sausage - Andy.

Baked Beans - Lisa.

Under operators add;

Shawn N3AE - CW.

Brian KB3WFV - Phone.

That's all I can think of for now.

we need to check and review how much coax (for feeders) the club has and how serviceable they are.  I have a good selection of connectors if they are required to be replaced.

We still need to organise food and if required some one to cook or manage the food Dick T has mentioned earlier he would be around.  This can be discussed at the next meeting (@ Broom island).

I cant remember from last year but think it will be part of the building, does Broom island have Fire extinguishers?  Can we also come up with a small first aid bag as a just in case.

Please let me know if i missed owt?

Best regards

Field Day operations.   I would like to operate CW during FD.  Not sure yet of my availability at this time.  I will be back from Florida around June 10th and it takes a day or two to get settled back into the house.  I'll keep y'all posted.  Let me know what to bring other than a key, I will be bringing my own key this year.

I only live down the road.  I can probably do the cooking at home and run it up.  We can figure it out.

We have plenty of time to see if we can have someone to cook the sausages.

I'll be bringing the FT-710 and a power supply. I also have 125' of RG8X, plenty of barrel connectors/adapters, analyzer, one heavy duty 3 plug extension cord, and misc. tools. Was planning on bringing a copper J-pole and short mast for call-in station and/or Winlink station if we want to add those(wouldn't mind setting up a Winlink station using one of the tape measure yagi's if it will work... could be an interesting display).

Waiting to hear from Richard, W3RBR, regarding a generator. He donated his for the weekend last year but don't want to confirm it till I speak with him.

We will need 4 more "stations", more or spare coax, and figure out food and drinks(I will donate 10lbs. of Nick's sausage if we want to go that route).

What am I missing???
