Good Morning!
Many Thanks to all who attended last night's CARA meeting. It was good to see everyone including some spouses. The CARA members on hand voted in 15 members for 2025. You can get your very own CARA membership on the club website at: https://www.k3cal.club/join.html
Roger Cassell, Vice President of Mobile Communication of America presented the club with a check for the MCA Day Grant. (see attached photo.) This grant money will be used by CARA for outreach to the surrounding communities and educational presentations about amateur radio and the radio communication industry. Stay tuned for more information and be ready to volunteer at one of our future events. In fact if you are an educator, or instructor, or even enjoy putting on presentations, let us know. We could use your help.
Also in attendance were Calvert County Sheriff Ricky Cox, Calvert County Public Safety Deputy Director, Crystal Dowd, and Calvert County Emergency Management Specialist, Kara Buckmaster. There was a great discussion about the Maryland First State wide 700mhz communication system and how amateur radio can assist the county. Especially with real time information on local conditions. It was Great! You should have been there.
2025 is shaping up to be a very busy year for the Calvert Amateur Radio Association. You can help. Turn on those 2 meter and 440 rigs. Listen in to the K3CAL repeaters. Say hello to old friends and make some new ones. Most of all pitch in when you can. We could use the help.
Best
Brian
