STEM is this Saturday folks, 11am-3pm at Calvert High School on Dare's Beach Rd.(map view attached) We have 2 tables in the cafeteria area with easy outdoor access for antennas/coax. Doors open for set-up at 9am and the Expo itself starts at 11am. Shawn and I are planning to be there around 9:15-9:30 to get started. Everything we need will be there. If you've volunteered to operate the special event station, you may consider bringing your own chair. Folding metal ones will be there but...

Below are the folks who signed up to operate the special event station, but we will also need folks monitoring the repeater(s) during Expo hours, so students and young folks have an opportunity to make contacts.

Special Event Operators:
Nigel G0JKN- 11a-12p
Laila(Shorty) KC3ZPC- 12p-1p
Tom KC3YZZ- 1p-2p
Erik KC3QQD- 2p-3p
(One of the CARA laptops will be there for logging)

The four frequencies submitted with the ARRL special event station announcement are 14.220, 14.270, 14.305, and 14.330 LSB. Obviously, we'll see what's available when we start.

Thanks to all for volunteering!

Couple of things to keep in mind:

  1.
This is their event. We are participating. We don't want to overcrowd our display area. There will be A LOT of people attending and we want folks to have easy access for viewing and questions. Feel free to come look around but we need to limit the number of members at the display at any given time.
  2.
It gets VERY noisy there. If you will be operating, strongly consider bringing headphones! I will have mine there if needed along with a trigger PTT.
  3.
There is a "booth" where water, chips, etc. can be purchased and I have attached the menu from a food truck that will be there if you get hungry/thirsty.
  4.
We'll be interacting with all ages, so we also have an opportunity to try and attract adults to amateur radio.

I think that's about it. Shawn, do you have anything to add? If I think of anything else, I will make sure to get the word out. Look forward to seeing folks there. I think it will be a good time and a good way to let folks know who we are and that we're here.
