It looks like the CARA Maryland QSO party is a go for Saturday August 10th, 10am until at least 6 pm maybe longer. At the Broomes Island community Center.

This year CARA will be Testing a new set up. The goal is to setup two stations, including antennas and feed lines with the best on air performance with the least amount of work. Bare with us as we sort out the details and make tuning adjustments, and PLEASE bring some patience and lots of cooperative spirit.

We will have the club's Elecraft K3 and the Yaesu FT450. Both stations can operate either CW or SSB. They will be connected to two multi band dipoles covering 80/40/20/15 and 10 meters. With band pass filters installed on 40 and 20 meters. Two club laptops have been networked together for logging.

If you would like to operate on the air:
- You may want to  arrive later in the morning to avoid waiting for things to get set up and dialed in.

If you would like to help set up:
- We will start at 9am. Please be aware that this is a planned coordinated system, designed to correct some issues found during past events. Your assistance is more than appreciated, but please follow the directions given and ask before jumping in.

If you would like to visit:
- Stop by anytime, it will be good to see you. Be considerate of those operating on the air, please take casual conversation into the other room.

You are more than welcome to bring your own radio and power supply, and connect to the CARA antenna system. Setting up your own antenna is...... well OK. however it's use may defeat the purpose of CARA's new antenna system, to reduce interference between operators.

Finally, you will need to bring your own food and drink. The community center does have a kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and stove. Don't forget to clean up after yourself.
