On the Air Tonight Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Join a Special Talk Around Tuesday Extended Net, 6pm to 8pm. Operating Live, from the Calvert Amateur Radio Association demonstration display at the Broomes Island National Night Out event. This FM simplex net will demonstrate to the public, how amateurs can communicate locally in times of an emergency.
A battery operated remote UHF radio station set up at the CARA public display, will use the Calvert RACES cross band repeat radio system. Crossing net control to VHF radios connected to antennas several hundred feet in the air at the Barstow tower site. This cross band radio system, allows amateur radio emergency communication operators to establish simplex communications from any remote location within Calvert County. Providing vital communications with all of Calvert County as well as large portions of the surrounding area.
Test your ability to stay in contact during an emergency. Check in to this special net any time tonight, between 6pm and 8pm on 146.580 FM Simplex, with a transmit PL Tone of 100 hz. Split transmit frequencies or receive pl tone, ctcss will not be in use tonight.
