Well... weather didn't turn out to be what was being predicted all week.
Shocker!!! About 10 degrees cooler then forecasted and a lot of rain
clouds. Around 1:30 the lightning detector started sounding off and radar
showed a sizable cell moving in so we packed it up and called it a day.
Didn't sound like 40 meters was very active. Couple, not many folks, were
calling CQ and they weren't getting much of a response at all. Didn't try
80. Maybe we should've. We did get a couple of "NVIS" contacts. Baltimore,
Western Pa, and 3 others using both QRP and full power so the NVIS approach
was working and we got a chance to get out. Better then nothing I suppose.
Thanks to those who came out and joined in. Dave W3PQS, Dale KC3RKP, Dick
W3RBR, Ed WB6NCO, Brian KB3WFV and Lisa, Abe KC3WOA. Thanks to Dale for
bringing his 710 and some portable power and Dave for bringing power.
Prolly could've run the parking lot lights off all the power we had!
Hopefully next year will be better.
Next outing will be Field Day. Broome's Island Community Center June 22nd
and 23rd. Mark your calenders! Should be a great time.
