K3CAL.org 146.985 repeater and 444.950 repeater (linked) and Echolink K3CAL-R
Net Control: KB3WFV
Notes from 2/27/2023:
KC3QQD: There was a good turnout from the club for the STEM event on Saturday, supported by members on the repeater system. He will be contacting the members involved and interview them for an article. He will begin adding to the net follow-up email the list of events and meeting presentations so everyone can be kept up to date (probably next week). There was an email from Dick Terlisner advising we are approved to use the Broomes Island building for field Day.
N3AE: STEM event successful – Andy helped and Les and Dale. Had a 2m setup for repeater in addition to HF, handouts passed along to many attendees. Thank you email sent to school coordinator – they will get us signed up for next time! Wednesday this week lunch is at Gordy’s across from Safeway (near KFC).
KB3WFV: programming straightened out. Echolink work done – switched to K3CAL-R, improving the quality of the link. Ran a mini-net during the STEM event. Have been told we have the coolest repeater and coolest people because we have so many different people ready to help each other out with problems.
KC3WRX: HF contacts made to SC QSO party during STEM. There was a young person there with ham ticket. They saw our setup as soon as they walked in the building. March’s AUXCOM meeting – hurricane plan and spotting info review.
N3PPH: using HF as well as possible even though solar activity is problematic.
AB3LE: appreciate the engineers. Let your neighbors know what ham radio is and that you are there to help with communications.
W1AJW: situation last week – radio came in over the PA system during a presentation. Caused by tropospheric interference it seems.
KC3WRT: fun with his son visiting this weekend and also speaking with STEM net.
W3OH: he is working on grounding and shielding in shack.
KN6SMG: Thanks, visiting parents and installing mobile in his parent’s vehicle.
W3EME: very exciting talking to STEM expo attendees over Echolink from Satellite control office
KC3PFF: sounded like it was a great event on Saturday.
KE4YXR: greetings from the Northern Neck of Virginia.
Thanks to all who checked in!
Respectfully submitted,
Erik-KC3QQD
