May 7, 2020 CARA Meeting Minutes  Board Meeting

CARA Board Meeting was held at 6:30 PM by Zoom internetapplication due to Corona virus restrictions.

CARA is facilitating donation of unused radio from one hamto another.  Neither is a CARA clubmember.  Scott McNeill has radio; GeorgeCogswell W1AJW a resident of Asbury Village needs a radio.  It is just a matter of getting the radio fromScott to George with the travel and visitation restrictions in place.  But it is going to happen soon.  The details are being worked out.  


 
Treasurer’s Report: The 2020 budget was approved at the November meeting but was not published.  Dick published the 2020 budget showingprojected income and expenditures. Budget will be posted on members area of website.  

Repeater:  Antennainstalled on Calvert Memorial Hospital on March 9, 2020.  Project on hold due to access restrictions atthe hospital.  Chuck Shefflett tested thecans for the repeater and we need to consider refurbishing the current ones orpurchase new ones at approximately $2000. 


 
Field Day:  CARA isstill planning an onsite event.  ARRL isworking on remotely operated stations and linked club stations to keep  social distancing and virus spread safety.  Our turn out is expected to be light and thespace large enough to allow for activities to be carried out safely.  Dick Ratcliffe requests a Porta Potty for theevent.

May 7, 2020 CARA Meeting Minutes  Members Meeting

Meeting opened at 7:47 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance ledby Dave Hardy

New Member:  Scott FoyKC3PDJ was voted in as a member of CARA

Short discussion of donation of radio and transfer toAsbury.

Treasurer presented 2020 Budget which was already approved. 

Field Day:  PortaPotty estimated at $75-120 for the weekend.

Field Day location sent to ARRL for publication.

Invitations to officials has been on hold due to Coronavirusrestrictions.  Will send email invitationsto Calvert Commissioners, Emergency Management officials and MEMA  coordinator only.

Need chairs and tables

Update logging software to bring current.

Miscellaneous:

Chuck will look at tweaking controller settings to makeclock stay correct.

Proposal to make Honorary Membership category.  Non-voting membership for selectedhonorees.  Dave will make draft change tobylaws.

Shawn has spare repeater on bench.  Has probable cold solder joints that needdiagnosing.

Shawn reported Web EOC has detailed Calvert CountyCoronavirus Contingency Plan that is worth viewing.
