[K3CAL] CARA 2M Repeater DOWN Again

Well folks, I thought we might have a temporary solution for our 2M repeater but the MSR-2000 is down again.  

While adjusting the transmit frequency which was off a little bit (required transmitting into a dummy load for a couple of minutes at a time) the final amplifier became intermittent, the output power abruptly bouncing between 50 watts and milliwatts, and then it quit entirely.   This was with the amp output already cut down to half of its rated power.  Must be some kind of thermal problem in the final or a bad component/circuit board trace.  Letting it sit for a while brings it back but very briefly. 

So back to the garage with some cooler spray.

For the CARA net this evening recommend trying our 444.950 repeater (+5 MHz, PL 156.7)

Tomorrow I'll see if I can get the DR-1X system running here from my QTH but it will only be at 20 watts.
