Hi, Below is a reminder that this evening at 7:30 we can try out CALV-TAC 03 vhf and CALV-TAC 09 hf frequencies for communication backup. We expect this will work primarily for the southern part of the county. I will call in at first for a brief reminder on our normalCARA net repeater 146.985 and see who might be listening, and then I will switch at 7:35 pm to 146.580 simplex and about 7:45 pm to 28.310 hf. Finally, I will return to 146.985 our CARA repeater to monitor to see if anyone has any comments. Thank you for your help in this test run, hope to hear from you.
Peter Holt
KB3SXB or 410 326.2253 if you wish to telephone me.

> As noted at the end of our regular CARA net this evening, with lightening and thunder all about, I asked that our radio checks on CALVTAC-03 (146.580 simplex) and CALVTAC-09 (HF 28.310) be rescheduled for this Thursday, July 9 at 7:30 PM. I will first come up on our 146.985 duplex CALV-01 at 7:30 PM to remind anyone listening that I will do a radio check call-in, primarily for those in southern Calvert County (or from where ever they wish to try). These are backup CARA TAC frequencies listed in the CARA 11/9/2015 handout. We have tried the 10 meter band before with mixed results, but barring another thunderstorm we can try again.
> It was interesting to run both a ZOOM "net" and the CARA weekly net together. XMZ was net control on ZOOM while EED did his usual mastery of controlling everything else. For those who have difficulty hitting Sunderland TAC-01 it does provide a parallel/alternative rodeo should we need it, particularly if some can't hit the Sunderland or other repeater for whatever reason. If nothing else, it might be useful in an alert to give us QSY instructions to go to another repeater or HF, etc.. This of course could also be done by e-mail, assuming in both cases the internet is working.
