Draft Minutes of Cara Monthly Meeting - August 6, 2020 

 

President Hackett called the meeting to order via ZOOM internet at 1930 hrs. 

 

Twelve members were present. 

 

Dick Ratcliffe introduced 4 new members joining CARA and they were approved by vote (show of hands) for membership by the attending members.: 

  George Causewell (sp.?)  W1AJW 

  Scott Foy  KC3PDJ 

Jason King  KG7RQK 

Andrew Trent  KN4VWB 

All had paid dues $20.   

 

  Dave Weaver gave a detailed report on the status of the 2 meter repeater working off the DNR antenna at the Prince Frederick location.  There are two digipeaters available, one in Prince Frederick and one at Mt. Hope.  Frequency is 145.070.  The DNR representative analyzing the antenna told Dave that CARA was welcome to use the DNR antenna as long as no paying party wishes to have it.  DNR has not funded its removal for at least a year.  There is no 440 repeater in Prince Frederick nor at Mt. Hope.  A long discussion followed about using various options for repeaters at the hospital site, either a 440 or 6 meter, just to experiment.  Nothing was decided, however, most agreed that it might be worth checking out a 440 there.  Thanks to Dave for his contact with the DNR representative and clarifying their willingness to work with us.  The DNR representative is also a radio amateur.  Consideration might be considered for inviting him join CARA. 

 

  Our Treasurer reported we have $4,586.81 in the account.  It was noted that money continues to come in from 501c3 contributions via Amazon purchases. 

 

The next meeting will be on September  8, 2020 at 1830 hrs.  It will be a combined Board and General CARA membership meeting beginning with the former. 

 

The meeting was adjourned be vote at about 2015 hrs.
