I'm taking care of the food. I'm still trying to pin down the number of folks coming.
So far: Myself, Ron and Andy Byzet, Dan Flynn, Steve Hempling, Ed and you, Dave Weaver may drop by, Bob Sheskin will NOT come, Shawn has a daughter home and might get down a little, JIm Tetlow has family in and won't come, Les probably will come, I think Bill Hackett will be there some. Bob Balint is traveling. Dick Terlisner is in Australia. don't know about Peter Hughes, Don Kirby, Dick Ratcliffe or James Stevens, or Adrienne. Dennis has left for OK. So about 7 fairly definites, 4 or 5 maybes. I'll plan meals for 10-12. We'll pin the number down a little more next Thursday.
I've spent this evening updating the invitation letter and addressees list. There's always some changes to mayors, fire chiefs and such. Will spend tomorrow updating my media list and send out a press release to press and stations. I also made a flyer/poster to put up at libraries, stores and such. Radio Shack will put one in the front window. I'll get one in West Marine bulletin board.
Thanks for the genset and urn. Steve will be getting stuff from Mt Hope. We will probably run 3A. GOTA is a maybe. Satellite station, digital station, a couple of SSB stations, we need a CW station. We can use 440 for talk in since it just up the street. We will have an 80 meter antenna (not sure if dipole or what), 40 dipole, 40 log periodic (maybe if built in time), Ham Sticks, Cushcraft vertical, HexBeam and my assortment of dipoles cut for psk31 and a Buddipole.
I still have a few positions to fill for FD: safety boss (myself??), stations boss (ED??), antenna boss (Steve??) I might tap Andy for one of those slots.....
Is there anything in your garage that we really need for FD? I have a pickup truck now and can haul stuff but have no storage space.
Thanks for your email. It gets me to get some thoughts together and written down. I'm copying Steve with this email thread. He needs to know this stuff. We did have a good discussion at the board meeting last night. I bought a dry erase board for making a station schedule so folks don't hog 80 meters like they did last year and keep a favorite nonmember from getting on the air. I'll tell you more when I see you.
I'm quitting for the night. Take care and thanks for the memories. Or is that memory (jog?)
Dave

We will be at the meeting next week on June 6. FOOD STUFF--Do we have a count yet of who is coming to Field Day? I don't think we should buy ANY food until we know that number. I am not cooking anything for FD this year. And it would be nice if one of the members volunteers to go buy the stuff if we have an idea of what we want. They can get reimbursed from the FD budget or they can donate their expense. I said in my previous FD email that Dick has the forms for either choice. RENTAL EQUIPMENT--I did go to the Rental store and reserved the 2 kW inverter generator and coffee urn. Ed and I will pick those two items up on Friday June 21 and bring them Saturday morning. Steve needs to bring the coffee box from Mount Hope so I have something to put into that coffee urn. I will also bring two boxes of cookies for the display tables like I have done the last 3 or 4 years.
The club's box of cutlery/plates/bowls/cups/napkins, etc., should be at Mount Hope. Steve should bring that box along with the coffee box.
ED--He says he will get the software for logging and take care of that. He needs to know how many stations we are setting up. But that goes back to member commitments on attending. It would REALLY be nice if members would step up and make at least a one-day commitment to Field Day. CARA EQUIPMENT STORED IN OUR GARAGE--If anyone needs the stuff that's stored in our garage, they need to arrange with me to come and get it. Eddie loaded up all that stuff by himself last year and brought it and very little of it was used. PRESS RELEASES--Have sent those to Calvert Recorder, County Times, and Bay Weekly.
LIBRARY DISPLAY--I do not have time to do the Library Display this year even if we are scheduled. Besides, I would have to dismantle the displays I have for Field Day to put something up in the PF Library because of their lousy nonadjustable shelves. I do have the smaller complete triptych that would fit into the Solomons Library. Monica KC3DAS

Will do.
Hope you can make it to the meeting next week. Steve will be the FD boss and I'll do food boss. I'd like you to bring the info tabling stuff and help me with food stuff. I'm planning sandwiches for Sat lunch. Hamburgers and hot dog cookout for dinner and breakfast burritos for Sun morning. Keep it simple and keep 'em fed and happy. See if Ed wants to be stations, antenna, or safety boss. And will he be doing the logging intranet thing? More later after the meeting tonight.
Found out today that a lady at the senior center and her husband and son are all ham radio ops. I'm heavy into recruiting them for the club.
I missed the library exhibit somewhere along the way. Forgot or something. Anyways, we don't have an exhibit in June at Solomon's. I'll call Prince Frederick tomorrow to see if we are scheduled there. Probably not.
I'm doing a ham radio demo at the senior center on June 20th morning until lunchtime. Setting up a low power hf station inside with a loop antenna just for getting interest.
See you later Dave KB3RAN
