[K3CAL] FIELD DAY 2019

Thanks for the useful information.  Now folks, you heard it here first.  Monica will NOT be coordinating Field Day this year.  It's your turn...….  Step right up!  You will have help and we have guides from previous years to follow.
I'll be bringing a digital station on solar power.  I'll bring a grill.  And hamburgers and hot dogs and buns and condiments for a bbq for Saturday night.  I hope others can contribute sides, salads and desserts.  Again, step right up.  Does anyone want to do breakfast on Sunday?  Saturday lunch?
Maybe a moonbounce would keep us away from the radios too much??

To All, Drum Point also has indoor bathrooms that provide soap and paper towels as well as dish soap in the kitchen.  Drum Point's facilities were nice and clean to include the refrigerator.  The fee has to be for a lot more than just clean-up.  Peter, jump in here for what you know since you are way more connected to the clubhouse than any of us. I am not volunteering this year to coordinate Field Day.  Someone else needs to step up, or not. The following is what Ed and I will either bring or do: --Rent the generator and coffee maker --Power Supply panel
--Bring food if it is not bought by the club or the Food Coordinator.  Don't know yet what I'm bringing.
--Field Day sign-in sheet --Press releases (unless Dave has already arranged for this) --Bring club equipment that is stored in our garage.  We will NOT bring everything that is in our garage.  Ed loaded all the stuff onto our trailer last year and a lot of it was not used.  If you can help him with some physical labor so he doesn't have to do ALL the heavy lifting, that would be great.  Just let us know. --Bring and set up display materials
I may add to this list as needed. No one used the GOTA station last year, so if you would like to do that, I can print out the GOTA poster and we still have GOTA pins to give to any participants.
If you spend your OWN money on Field Day, you need to see Dick (KB3RBR), the club treasurer, for the Event Expense Report to specify whether you want to be repaid or are making a donation to the club. I could also rent a moonbounce.  That might help some of you get your longwires and other antennas up past the treetops. Monica KC3DAS

$75 a day.  We're paying $150.  I'm pretty sure that is for the clean up fee.  Peter KB3SXB will have the contract signed this week.  I remember we swept up and wiped down the kitchen last time.

Dave  One question how much do they charge us per day for the club house?  Do they charge a clean up fee?

I'm not going to make FD this year.  Have family coming in that weekend.

Let me know if you need borrow any "stuff."   The antennas I usually bring are all up at Mt Hope where they are stored.  I have a small laptop that could be used for logging.

Field Day 2019 is only 50 days away.  I'm looking for lots of fun, food and fellowship at Drum Point Clubhouse on June 22 and 23rd.  As you remember from a couple years ago, this site has lots of room and has a beach, pier, and boat landing areas for recreation besides radio ops.  There are enough tall trees to get long wires up in the air and ground space for hexbeams and such.  The clubhouse itself has air conditioning, bathrooms, and a kitchen area with refrigerator and range.
Every successful venture needs good planning.  I need a few folks to step up and help with planning our Field Day.  As we discussed at our May CARA meeting last night there are several essential roles that need filling.  Please consider and volunteer for these roles to make Field Day a fun and successful weekend.   These positions just require a little time to coordinate with folks who are planning to come to see what they are bringing and then figure out placing the resources.  Not a major effort on anyone's part.
Field Day Coordinator:  Overall checking to see that resources are being provided Station Boss:  Coordinates stations; GOTA, CW, SSB, digital, etc.
Antenna Boss: Coordinates availability of multiband antennae Food Boss:  Sees that we have food for Sat lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast for X number of people.  And who is bringing/ordering food. Safety Boss:  Checks and verifies that we have a safe environment for our ops.  Authority to shut down or modify ops to make them safe.

We need to decide whether to feed ourselves, potluck meals, buy prepared food, buy and cook food or some other means for having food and water for an overnight operation. We need a generator and power distribution system for the radios and/or complete stations including computers.   We need a logging system.  After FD we need our score turned in for credit. I have added our location to the ARRL Field Day site database so we can be found.
We have done many Field Days in the past.  You know it doesn't take a lot of work but it does take a little just to get the details right.  Please let me or the board know if you are able to fill one or more of these roles.
I also need a show of hands of how many to plan for on Field Day.  Please, please respond and let me know if you are planning to spend some time with us.
Are you coming on Saturday to help set up?   To operate? What mode(s)   To bring a station? What kind: GOTA, CW, SSB, digital   To bring an antenna? What kind   To stay overnight?   To come on Sunday?   Come for breakfast?     Operate on Sunday?   Help tear down?
Thanks.  We'll have our June 6th  meeting devoted to Field Day final planning.  I'm hoping to have enough response from this mail to make it an effective meeting.
