[K3CAL] Field Day stuff

I guess the question I have is why would Ed a nonmember purchase something for the club?. And why doesn't the secretary have this information from one year to the next.

Once again sounds like Cara is in disarray just like the repeater system. Nobody knows what the hell was going on.

The software was provided to the club, and on inventory in 2011, it was used for three Field Days and no one was interested in taking it over. Thus as usual no one stepped up to take care of the product, that is until Ed purchased a copy and has set it up for the Club since then. 

The whole suite was turned over to the club back in 2011 under the user name of KB3URX, different passwords for different suits. The secretary was given the user name and passwords every year at field day and Md QSO party. It was not purchased by CARA, but by an individual that donated it to the association...(check minutes  archive) at a monthly meeting.

If Ed has donated the suite of programs to CARA, and has been maintaining it for several years at field day, its kinda a mute point about the other program. It just seems that its a shame that only Two people have had a concern about the logging program in the last nine years. Thank you Ed for sharing and keeping it up, shame on the rest for not stepping up!

I have the software and three computers that I'll have set up before field day. I also have my new HP laptop that's set up with fldigi and is working with my go box that I'll also bring. However the HP is going with me when I leave the area.

I've made a shopping list for the groceries.  I plan to go to Mt Hope on Wednesday afternoon 6/12 to get the tubs with paper products and food related items to inventory so I don't buy things again that we already have.  Side dishes, desserts and snacks for sharing are encouraged.

Sat midday:  Cold cut sandwiches, chips, drinks, dessert 

Sat dinner:  Hamburgers, hot dogs, Cincinnati Chili, fixins, drinks, etc

Looks like we will do 3A but may have 4 or 5 stations set up to choose from.  There will be a station schedule available to sign up for time slots.  GOTA will be set up. 

Operators are encouraged to attend and get on the air.  

Directions to the Drum Point Clubhouse:  From the north take  Route 2/4 to Lusby,  turn East onto Rousby Hall Road Rt 260.  Stay on Rousby Hall Road through the Lusby town center light to the traffic circle (near Patuxent High School.)  Take the 3rd exit from the traffic circle (staying on Rousby Hall Road Rt 260.)  Go about 2 miles then turn left on Barreda Blvd (at the Drum Point sign)  Turn right staying on Barreda Blvd after about a block.  Follow Barreda about a mile.  It will bear left and change name to Overlook Drive.  Follow Overlook to the gate and dirt road leading to the Drum Point Clubhouse at 465 Overlook Drive, Lusby MD 20657.  

Talk in frequency will be on 444.950 + PL 156.7   This repeater does not have great range but does work from Rousby Hall Road mostly.  Phone 443-440-1736 if all else fails.

Did I forget something?  We discussed much more at our June meeting that I'm not repeating here.  We have stations, antennae, food, operators, nice location with a beach. Bring your bathing suit and sand pail.  

See you on Saturday June 22nd.  We'll have the gate open around 9AM for set up.  Drum Point will be having their annual meeting in the clubhouse for a while in the morning but we can set up antennae and stations outdoors until they are done.  We will need a few folks to stay after it's done to tear down and pack up.

We have not discussed logging and software and connecting stations together.  I can bring several portable computers if needed.  Is there a software program to pre-load before FD? 

It's just under a fortnight until the big day.  Dust off your gear and come play on Field Day.
