Thanks, Dave, for the update on our new repeater location. We are testing its range, I am monitoring the frequency from home about a half mile away on my HT. If anyone want's to give it a try, call me first on the landline 410 326-2253 and I will check you out. Many thanks to Bill, Dave W., and Chuck for setting it all up Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, last week we did an impromptu 10 meter roll call on 28.530.
We had 6 participants. Working from my home station KB3SXB the following were the results:
KB3RAN 5/9
AB3LE 5/9 (plus) Using the backside of his beams somehow improved readability.
N3AE just barely audible, very weak signal (AB3LE helped relay)
N3PH 4/8
N3PPH 5/9
Interesting that N3AE was very subdued.
My impression is that the 10 meter frequency that we designate in ARES as a TAC 1 alternate has promise as a backup when we don't use a repeater.
Any other comments are welcome.
On May 15 I plan to work the 10 meter AUXCOM Excercise from KB3TGF (Drum Point Radio Club). Weaver checked the new custom cut ( by Peter Hughes) slanting wire and found a perfect SWR, so it should work.
Peter (KB3SXB)
PS: Chuck has signed in and taken the oath (raised his left hand) and now is the newest member of the Drum Point Radio Club.!!! (Aside: He said he joined because there are no dues, really!!. Chuck, no by-laws either!)

Thanks to Peter Holt KB3SXB for arranging for Drum Point to host this repeater for a testing trial. The elevation of the antenna is probably about 100' asl so it's still pretty low. Signal reports are welcome.
