[K3CAL] Upcoming events and report from our last meeting

Some brief notes from last Thursday's meeting:


We had 2 guests:  Adrienne Young KG5SIL and Dennis Dakin (working on Tech) both from Chesapeake Ranch Estates.


Looks like we need some work on both repeater sites.  The 2 meter repeater did not work for last week's net and we have antenna problems at Prince Frederick.  We will need to spend some $$ soon to get them on the air properly.


Plans for a General class are coming along.  Dick Terlisner AE3DT has agreed to be lead instructor and is looking for segment instructors to help teach the Wednesday night classes starting October 3rd and running about 10 weeks.  Location could be in Chesapeake Ranch Estates since 2 of our members looking for the General upgrade live there.  I have requested a meeting location from the Propery Owners Association of Chesapeake Ranch Estates (POACRE).  Got a favorable informal reply but it needs to go to their board.  Volunteer instructors so far are: Dick Terlisner AE3DT, Andy Byzet WA4BRX, and myself


Events coming up in October


Open House at Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department:  Sat October 6 10 AM to 3 PM:  Have myself, a St Mary's ham friend,  Monica KC3DAS, Ed KC3EN,  and Dennis Dakin
PRAD Parade Communications Support:  Sun October 7 12 PM to 3 PM  Myself, Monica KC3DAS, Ed KC3EN, and Dennis Dakin


There is some interest in doing some mountaintop ops.  If interested, please let me or a board member know.


Please consider helping out with the open house, PRAD, the General class or other events.  Our volunteerism has decreased recently and folks are missing out on fun and rewarding activities.  Hope to see you soon.

One last thing:  Nominations for officers for 2019 need to be made NOW!!   There are 5 positions:  President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Director.  Current sitting in those position may be nominated for next year with one exception.  I will not run for the office of President again.  It's time for a new face in the front of the room.  Self nominate or select one of our other members that you would like to see helping to lead our club.
