-          Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region 10 (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington) will conduct a Communications Exercise (COMMEX) on Wed., Jan. 17 and on the third Wednesday of subsequent months during 2018, 1500-2100 UTC. -          ARRL January VHF Contest starts on Sat., Jan. 20, at 1900Z until 0359Z on Jan. 22, Sun.  Invite your newly license Amateur Radio operators to your QTH or Club Station and hopefully ‘work’ some tropo/ducting.  [http://www.arrl.org/january-vhf]

-          The 24hr Winter Field Day starts at Sat., Jan. 27th, at 1900 UTC (2pm EST) until 1900 UTC (2pm EST) on Sun. 28th.  Share your plans & pictures on social media and send your plans and Winter Field Day locations to MDC Section Manager via email. [https://www.winterfieldday.com/rules]

-          MMARC hosts an annual Winter Hamfest 2018 at the Odenton Fire Hall on Rt-175 in Odenton, MD.  Starts Sun., Jan. 28, from 7:30 AM until noon. [https://sites.google.com/site/marylandmobileers/hamfests-1/hamfest-2]

-          Frostfest, Richmond VA will be on Sat., Feb. 3, from 8:30AM to 3:30PM.  Come see the completely Sold-Out flea-market & official ARRL Virginia State Convention. [http://frostfest.com/wp/]
