I’m forwarding this mail I received from the Pennsylvania/Ohio DX Society that runs the PODSX 070 club that gives awards to those who work PSK31 operations.  There is a sprint contest this weekend if you are interested.  They also need help with administration and funding.  

Guess I’ll be working some PSK this evening.

Hey, everybody! I'm behind on several announcements, so I'll do them all in one email.  Please forgive the website being out of date regarding today's contest. There's a technical error that I'm in the process of correcting. It should be fixed soon.

Triple Play Low Band Sprint - First of all, I'm sorry I've not addressed this before now. The Sprint has historically been a Friday/Saturday/Sunday evening event here in the states.  This year, due to my apparent inability to read a calendar and correctly cipher UTC time, it's going to be the 0000UTC 11th - 2359UTC 13th Nov 2016  (Thursday/Friday/Saturday.) I don't want to change it back literally the day of the contest!  

Triple Play Low Band Sprint DOUBLEHEADER! - Here I've got the opportunity to correct the dates with a reasonable lead time.  The DOUBLEHEADER! will be three 6hr operating blocks starting 0000UTC 17th - 2359UTC 19th Dec 2016.

Mailings - for a host of reasons, we are combining the September and January mailings. This will start around mid December. John Bower, KE4JB has graciously agreed to take over the duties of mailing the stickers out. I will still handle all the new member packets and contest certificates, as well as the printing of all the stickers. Last year's contest certificates are still being mailed out (I know, I know....), and this year's certificates will start being mailed out very soon.

CONTEST2.0 - The CONTEST2.0 rule set that has been discussed a few times in the past will be fully published very soon as well. Steve, W3HF has worked very hard on CONTEST2.0 and we should be well served by it. We owe Steve a debt of gratitude!

RC3 - Rollo Contest Championship Cup - The first annual "RC3" will be in full force next year!  The weighting/scoring of the different contests is still underway, but it's basically ready to roll out. This will be a separate "contest" along the lines of the point chase systems in various motor sports leagues. The "RC3" champion will receive a very nice, engraved, silver cup to commemorate their hard work!

2017 Contest Calendar - this should be rolled out by the end of the year. We'll keep the DOUBLEHEADER! and we're also looking into adding a "dead of winter" 160m contest, or possibly an 80/160 contest.  Please send your suggestions to me or post them to the reflectors.

Open Staff Positions - Luck, WA4STO has had to step down as our awards manager. We certainly appreciate everything he did for us in his tenure as the 070 Award Manager. We now need a new award manager. This position requires checking in on our award queuing system 2-3 times per week, for perhaps 20-30 minutes at the time. Pretty strong web skills are required, as are very good written communication skills. Training will be supplied. MOST IMPORTANTLY!  The coffers are low, my friends. We've not put out a request for donations in nearly two years, but the time is nigh onto us for such action! 

There's currently nearly 2400 stickers to send out via more than 300 envelopes, and there's still 6 weeks left before the end of the mailing period, so those numbers could easily grow by 25%. There will be a couple hundred contest certificates to go out in large, unfolded envelopes. So far this year, we've spent over a thousand dollars on postage alone, plus about four hundred on paper, cardstock, envelopes, toner, and other supplies.  As you can see, our expenses are pretty significant!
