It has come to my attention that is it the time of year for antenna lice to hatch. They will suck the power right out of your dipoles and verticals and cause your SWR to go through the roof. There are several ways to mitigate the effects. One is to shake your antenna vigorously to knock the little beasties off, but that doesn't get rid of them. Most survive the fall and will reinfest your antenna. The only surefire solution is to completely spray your antenna wires and elements with non-stick spray like PAM. This requires you either taking the antennae down or getting a very long applicator pole to reach the spray can up to the antenna. Hope this hint was helpful and remember they always hatch at the beginning of April.
