[K3CAL] Resolving Our Club Differences and the Repeater Committee

To All,

Because of the misunderstandings and confusion over the past several
weeks, Dave, W3PQS, requested that all who could meet for lunch this
past Wednesday please do so. If you could not be there, I want to let
you know that those who attended discussed the problems you have been
seeing on the Reflector. We did iron out several of our differences.
There was nothing secretive or private about this meeting and I will
gladly discuss it at our next monthly meeting on April 7. If you want
to know what we discussed before then, please email or call me. I can
also give you a list of the members who were at this lunch meeting. And
if those members present have anything to add to this email, please do so.

The resulting meeting was very productive and I believe that we all
agreed that moving CARA forward was our collective goal. We may still
have some differences in how to approach the future of CARA, but we did
decide that enjoying the hobby of ham radio is a lot more important than
harboring disputes over administration. We also vowed to talk openly
about any differences we may have and not vent on the Reflector.

Clearly, I want to thank Dave for making the move to call for this lunch
meeting.

Regarding the Repeater Committee and the work on the Prince Frederick
repeater project, we decided that the only fair move concerning the
committee was to disband and then re-form it. With that, I have the
following information and a request.

Dave, W3PQS, Weaver will continue as the Project Manager for the Prince
Frederick Repeater and will choose the people he needs to finish this
Project. If you'd like to volunteer for this, and are willing to put in
the time and effort, contact Dave directly. Dave and his group's work
will be ongoing and will not be a part of the 1-, 3-, and 5- Year Plan
that was discussed at the March meeting. There was a misunderstanding
about how that plan would affect any needed work on any of our
repeaters. I deeply apologize for making my intentions unclear if you
thought I was suspending all work on the repeaters until the plan was
implemented. The misunderstanding is all on me.

If you wish to be on the Repeater Committee, please let me know if you
would like to volunteer. When the new Repeater Committee is formed,
those members on the committee will select their own chairman. If you
are not on the Repeater Committee, that does not mean that you will not
be working on a repeater in the future. Per CARA's by-laws, the
Repeater Committee is an ADVISORY function and works on the repeaters in
an emergency. The actual work that may be required on a repeater as
advised by the Repeater Committee is actually performed by a WORKING
PARTY. The Working Party is separate and in addition to the Repeater
Committee.

If you don't like something I do, _please_ talk to me! I have many
ideas about what I'd like to see the club do, but I have no authority to
act alone. If you think I am wrong, tell me! Contact me by email at
enoell at verizon.net or call me at 410-610-7509.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
