Sounds great. I think once you get it correct, people will try it, and find interest in the chatrooms. Congratulations for keeping this going, I know your net attendance has been on the low to 0 lately. Im afraid I have been one of the no shows, maybe the wires x will create a new spark, and maybe the wires x net on our repeater will be contagious! You and Gary keep up the good work while enjoying our hobby!

Background:
Hello, K3IH (Gary, in Hughsville) and I have been testing Yaesu wires x and setting up a wires x room to work through a repeater. Something that is currently done in a lot of locations with the new Yaesu repeaters. Most are able to connect at the repeater site directly; however, with no internet connection at mt hope, we are testing it with a remote connection. This setup is also popular.
What does wires x do:
Wires X is a feature of the new Yaesu c4fm radios and repeaters. It works like Dstar and others. There are chat rooms set up all over the world. Currently the most popular room in the US is America Link. Usually their are between 40-50 people in the room at any given time. The chat rooms are accessed by a c4fm radio that connects to a c4fm radio/hri 200 wires x box. For example, I have a ftm400 yaesu rig at my qth connected to a hri 200 wires x box and the internet on a simplex channel 145.585. Any one with a c4fm radio that is in range of my qth can access wires x on 145.585 through my node. So any one in range can talk on wires x around the world. If i set up the node in FM instead of digital, any one with any radio can connect over 145.585 as well.
What are we asking to do on the repeater Sat night:
Instead of using a simplex frequency and my local node/room, we want to try and set wires x up on the 146.985 repeater this Saturday eve at 9pm and connect to the first America link net. Gary is going to be the net control.
What will it do to the repeater:
Well, if we are successful in setting it up correctly, Any one with in range of 146.985 on Saturday eve will be able to hear and or participate in the America Link net. Basically, any one in range of the repeater will hear those talking in America link and any one talking on the repeater will be heard in the Wires X America link room.
Why do we want to do it:
One - its just really cool
Two - we want to experiment and see if we can get it to work
Three - It will be a great way for anyone with or with out a new yaesu c4fm radio to try out wires x.
Objectives:
The objective is to get it work have a successful net that is also heard by 146.985 and if successful we could have limited time slots open and communicated to members when the wires x is "on" so that it can be used by any member during those time slots. This isnt something that would be turned on all the time even though some clubs do it that way.
What is worst case scenario:
We fail and dont get it to work and we would just reconfigure the wires x software not to connect to the repeater. The repeater would just go back to normal operation. We will go back to drawing board to figure it out and try again. Gary and I may try and test it out again tonight using our own nodes. We tried last two nights with partial success. We need to try a few other settings tonight.
Any questions, comments or thoughts?
