 Thank you Dave,

I was wondering if that wasnt the case. RE the new repeater, Ill have to try it out. I should be able to hit it without much problem, hopefully even with my HT. Are the plans for the 70 cm and 2 M repeaters to be linked, or is the interconnection you are referring to with other repeaters. I take it that digital coms will be supported what protocol? (DStar or Fusion, other) Will the system support Echolink? (Inquiring minds want to know ;-)

Hmm, Ill have to look into RT Systems. I currently use CHIRP.

Gary, this is the K3CAL repeater that we use on a daily basis. Not a new repeater. It is the one you used for the net the other night. It is listed as Sunderland. Mt Hope is the community center where we have our radio room and is nearby the repeater tower.

The new repeater is the one at Prince Frederick. It is on 444.950 with a PL Tone of 156.7. This is the repeater that should help us in south county a better chance to communicate, especially when the repeaters are interconnected. That will allow complete county coverage.

I have a list of a lot of the repeaters that I have programmed into my radios. I use RT Systems to program my radios. If anyone wants my file, Id be willing to share it. I find RT Systems files can be easily shared between radios. This might work for CHIRP, also, but I dont use that method.

 Dave,
I heard the Mt. Hope repeater discussed during the last meeting and now see it in your email. Im unaware of this repeater and dont find it in the repeater directory. Could you give me some details like location, freq, PL, etc? Thanks Gary W3GME

Thanks Ron for the update. My problem with Mt Hope is probably propagation related. And Im thinking the PF problem is still either antenna or audio level settings. I could hear a lot of the testing yesterday and I thought the audio out sounded good. I send you my thoughts on the messages already. Keep up the good work.

Who has the key?? Fess up and help the club out and turn it in so access to the repeater can be made easier. And if you have a digital radio or several, consider giving or loaning one to the club.

 Dave,

The PF machine is now running on the new repeater and controller. My HT will bring it up from Mt. Hope parking lot. I still suspect an antenna problem, but It does not show up as high SWR. We replaced one receive cable, but it should be replaced by a double-shielded one once we can find or make one. Yeasu is sending us a replacement internal receive cable (at NO cost!) for our old DR-1 repeater to get it back into good shape.

No one has touched the Mt. Hope repeater. We want to get the PF machine right first. There are many options to be set up in the controller, as well in the repeater itself. We have a basic program in there right now. We need input from the club as to what messages, timer settings, and quiet times, etc, are to be programmed in.

Things that have slowed us down:

Access to the PF repeater is difficult to schedule with the state, but so far, they have been very good at giving us access.

Access to Mt. Hope is not easy, either. I believe that a CARA key exists, but no one will admit to having one.

A mis-mash of connector types used between the equipment requires several types of cables and adapters to be used. It is difficult to have the right ones on hand as we troubleshoot. When the configuration documentation is completed, this will no longer be a hindrance.

The club no longer owns a digital radio, so digital check out must depend on assistance from those who have one.

Work continues... More info soon. YOUR CONTINUED PATIENCE IS APPRECIATED.

I have attempted to call on the 2 mtr and the 440 machines since 10AM and have not been able to be heard. Unacceptable. Sorry, I have called from my base station and my mobile with no contact. I hear the kerchunk and reports that I am there but no audio. Hope the PF repeater can do better than this on a regular basis. And its also worrisome that I cant hit the Sunderland machine either since I have been using it reliably for the past couple of months as on Monday night net and talking with others at other times. Is it weather? Antenna? Mine? Yours?
