Measuring precipitation in your back (or front) yard and reporting to
CoCoRaHS (have to go on home page to see how to pronounce acronym). Check it
out it runs on a daily basis, not just severe weather and coordinates with
NOAA. 

Kinda interesting for you weather buffs.
