All,

Eric posted some info and pictures on the website of the proposed FD site. Log in and take a look under the projects and Sigs - sub menu to the Field Day selection. Once the site is approved, it will be on the open site.

I'm sure the Field Day is on the agenda for tonight. See you there! 73,

I suggest another look at the place is to google earth map it, (great photo), it is at the end of Overlook Drive right opposite the Pax. Naval Base which is across the Pax. River. Follow down rt 760 to Barreda Blvd which runs into Overlook Dr. which ends at the Club. There are about 30 acres of woods on Drum Point with the Club House and large open field around it and large parking area.

> In anticipation of the CARA meeting tomorrow, I also attended the Drum Point Club Board meeting last night (Tuesday) to firm up the terms for hosting the Field Day. I outlined the following points to the Board:
> - That over the Field Day Weekend we (CARA) would be about twenty some radio amateurs representing CARA.
> - That we would require the use of the Pavilion area and the outside grounds, including the restrooms Saturday, through Saturday night and until Sunday afternoon.
> - That we would be willing to pay the reduced regular fee for Club members for the use of outside facilities ($75/day) total: $150.
> - That we would be using generators, grilling, setting up antennae on the grounds, and using the trees, and probably the two telephone poles for wires. (Eric and Steve noted that perhaps the proximity to the Bay might provide an excellent ground wire for a nearby antenna.)
> - That the contract would be slightly modified to allow all night use of the facility. And that should Boy Scouts or others wished to co-participate with CARA (by working for merit radio badges and/or camping overnight in the woods) that they would have to sign a separate contract to accept responsibility for their participants.
> - That I, as a Club Member, would sign the contract, and have it also co-signed by CARA (not really necessary, however, it indicates this is a community supporting event).
> - That we had among our CARA experienced members working with Boy Scouts who could assist them in learning more about radio amateur as a hobby. Brook, whose Email is forwarded below, is a Boy Scout troop leader in Arlington, Va., and is also Treasurer of the Drum Point Club. He has asked for a contact within CARA and locally in Calvert County where he could pursue the idea of having a coinciding Scout event (mini-jamboree?) with the CARA/ARRL Field Day. This was encouraged by the Drum Point Board at large. ACTION: Shawn, Eric and anyone else can you recommend a point of contact for such an event? Please respond directly to Brook (email below).
>

Nevertheless, once we figure out the details with the merit badge counselor, I'll let people know about this and see if there is any interest.
