CQ CARA CQ CARA CQ CARA DE KB3RAN KB3RAN KB3RAN.
I've been sending out similar messages on fldigi on PSK31 on several bands
recently and achieved LONP from my PODXS 070 club. In English, I finally
talked by digital radio to over 100 members of the Pennsylvania-Ohio DX
Society and achieved membership in the Loyal Order of the Narrow-Banded
Phaseshifters. Or maybe that's still not English. Anyways, it says I have
spent a lot of time on the radio contacting people in the US and across the
world by digital communications.
CARA had a nice holiday party last night at the Mt Hope Community Center.
About 16 members and guests, including a couple of grandkids, enjoyed a
feast and lots of fellowship in the great hall which is decorated for the
holiday season. After filling up on lots of good dinner items and desserts
coordinated by Jim K3UGA and Linda Tetlow, we had a gift exchange. Don KR3A
and Chris KB3CLG Kirby did a good job of organizing the number system for
preventing mayhem in the trading of gifts. Shawn Donley N3AE ended up with
a handie talkie. I got lots of printer paper which was the heavyweight gift
for the night.
It's not too late to buy holiday gifts online and support the Club. We have
an account with Amazon Smile that allows a portion of your purchase price to
be donated directly to Calvert Amateur Radio Association. Here's how:
Go to smile.amazon.com
Put in your email or mobile phone number and Amazon password if you have
one.
Otherwise, create an account
It will ask for your Name, email address twice
Then create a password (this will become your Amazon.com password as well)
Then you will go to pick your own charitable organization.
Type in Calvert Amateur Radio Association and search
Then select Calvert Amateur Radio Association when it pops up.
Check Yes to I understandthat I must always start at smile.amazon.com to
support Calvert Amateur Radio Association.
Click on Start Shopping and it will give you a thank you screen. Then you
can start shopping for things that you can't get locally. I support local
businesses, so you might want to try Radio Shack or Snead's Hardware as your
first stop.
I hope these steps work for you. I had Lila set up her account and I wrote
down the steps as she progressed with the process.
I will not be present at the Jan 5th or the Feb 2nd meetings as Lila and I
will be traveling to Florida then taking a cruise through the Panama Canal
and visiting some ports in Central and South American then western
Caribbean. Then we will camp in the Keys and Everglades ending up at
HamCation in Orlando in mid Feb before wandering home by the beginning of
March.
I'm looking forward to continued progress on the repeater upgrades and
links; thanks Ron Byzet WA4PRR and the repeater committee. I'm personally
working on getting an EchoLink node active that will reside at the Drum
Point Radio Club office in Lusby. I will post the details when it active.
Also looking forward to a Technician Class next year; we are working on the
details for that. While we don't have a timeline for tower improvements,
that is in our long range plans, too.
Be sure to join us on our Monday night net at 1930L on 146.985 tone 156.7.
John Mumper N3EDD has been an efficient net controller for a while now.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and Happy New Year's to
all. See you next year. Thank you for all of your support during the past
year. I'm looking forward to continued fun and fellowship in our hobby next
year. 73
